Mornings. It’s the worst time of the day for me. I am sooooo not a morning person, and this makes breakfast my least favorite meal of the day. But it’s so important! When trying to lose weight like I am, or just trying to stay healthy, Doctors and Nutritionists alike tell you that you must not skip breakfast. So, I set out on a mission to work around this problem, where:
1.) I’m not hungry in the mornings, but an hour before lunch time I’m “dying”.
2.) I hate mornings, and I don’t want to deal with making breakfast. So it better be a quick fix.
3.) It must be low calorie too. I like to keep my breakfast and lunch at a low (reasonable) calorie, so that I can have a higher calorie dinner. My kids and hubby do not care to share in my low-fat, low-calorie adventure, and besides, dinner is my favorite meal of the day. That’s where the comfort food is at.
This smoothie satisfies all three of those requirements. It’s delicious, fast and healthy, and keeps me full until lunch. Also gives me the energy I need to get a good start in the morning. The ingredients are just so simple, frozen unsweetened strawberries, oats, ground flax seed, low calorie vanilla Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla extract and almond milk.
That’s what makes this smoothie one of my favorite breakfast choices. I hope you enjoy it too!
